About Us

Ray and Julie Lofstad, along with daughter Olivia, are the owners of Catch of the Hamptons, a 5th generation family-owned fishery and seafood business located in Hampton Bays, NY. Our boat, Fishing Vessel Legacy, works out of Port of Shinnecock.

Our ancestors were Norwegian Whalers who immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s. Ray’s grandfather left Norway at just 12 years old, opting to live and work on the Great South Bay; he started a family and had three sons.

Together they dug clams, built boats, mended shrimp and shiner nets, and built killie pots.  They also sold bait to recreational fishermen and to the Captree party boats from their dock in the bay. Eventually, the family moved to Hampton Bays and became commercial fishermen - selling hundreds of thousands of pounds of fish to the old Fulton Fish Market in Manhattan, which is now Hunts Point Market.

During the pandemic, we delivered fresh seafood to the doorsteps of our neighbors - thus creating Catch of the Hamptons’ delivery service.  We are grateful to have continued support from our growing customer list.
